Personal Attention

Family law and divorce cases are, by their nature, highly personal affairs. Jennifer Feingold and Lorna Horton have built their reputation one client at a time, and this individualized focus remains the core of their practice. Every client’s situation is unique and requires a unique strategy. We employ a team approach, bringing the resources of the firm to a case as needed, and engaging the decades of experience our lawyers have to strategize and achieve the best outcome for each of our clients.

Strategic litigation

Parental Responsibilities/Child Custody

Securing the stability and support of children whose parents are involved in domestic disputes requires both skill and compassion and is often one of the most critical aspects to a case. Our attorneys are experienced at resolving child-related issues efficiently, keeping both the children’s and the client’s best interests at the forefront. When making important decisions about one’s children for the future, Feingold Horton provides the patience and knowledge necessary to help our clients choose the best path for both them and their children.

Asset and Wealth Identification and Valuation

Divorce cases involving substantial assets or complex estates require specialized knowledge. At Feingold Horton, our attorneys are skilled at identifying and valuing assets and wealth, including real estate, securities, business interests, retirement funds, pension plans, tax shelters (domestic and foreign), overseas accounts, stock options, trusts and other actual or potential sources of wealth and assessing an appropriate strategy to lead to a successful resolution for the client.

Same-Sex Marriage

In United States v. Windsor, the Supreme Court struck down the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) affirming that all loving and committed couples who are married deserve equal legal respect and treatment from the federal government and now same-sex couples are entitled to marriage equality under federal laws. In Kitchen v. Herbert, the Tenth Circuit, which encompasses Colorado, overturned a similar Utah statute banning same-sex marriage. These decisions provide Colorado same-sex couples all the rights and benefits when starting or ending a marriage. Feingold Horton works with LGBTQ and same-sex couples, including through mediation, to address the issues that may be unique to their particular situation and to protect and preserve their rights at all stages of their marriage so that they are afforded equal rights under the law.

Negotiation and Litigation

Resolving family law disputes requires proficient and persistent negotiation. But to be most effective, negotiation must be balanced by the skills and resources to litigate at the highest levels. Feingold Horton attorneys are experienced litigators–precisely the experience that allows us to avoid litigation when possible, and to prevail in court when necessary. We also have extensive experience negotiating and drafting pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements to provide our clients with reliable, long-term security, as well as providing unbundled consultation services because we understand not all cases may fit one size. At Feingold Horton, we take pride in understanding what the issues are facing our clients and what avenues they have available in order to achieve their best outcome.

Mediation

Mediation is a process in which parties try to settle their disputes with the help of a neutral third party, known as a mediator. Jennifer Feingold and Fran Fontana both possess a high level of training and skill to assist in the negotiation process and offer mediation services at an affordable cost in order to help parties craft their own agreements.

Successful resolution

Dedicated attorneys and support staff are assigned to each case to ensure our clients’ questions and concerns are answered in a timely, thoughtful, and thorough manner. Our distinctive team approach keeps clients fully informed about our efforts and advocacy on their behalf and facilitates seamless representation throughout the legal process.

Feingold Horton views the team approach involving not only the attorney and support staff, but in tandem with the client, to ensure a successful resolution is achieved while implementing a “not all sizes fit one” approach to each case.
